Transport law (sea, land, air)
The UIA Air, Land and Maritime Transport Law Commission offers participants various presentations in relation to the recession and international current affairs.
Given that the economic crisis has led to a sharp fall in freight and significant declines in traffic volumes, and that attachments of ships will become more widespread throughout the world, we plan to cover the following points at the Seville Congress:
- Protective attachments of ships in general, in particular in Dutch law and Spanish law
- Attachments of funds transferred electronically (recent developments in U.S. maritime law with regard to maritime attachment of property, including electronic fund transfers)
- New: inland navigation law presentation on the carriage of goods by inland waterway, with regard to the Budapest Convention on the Contract for the Carriage of Goods by Inland Waterway
- Various news headlines will be reviewed; piracy off the coast of Somalia, the Erika disaster and changes in maritime freight during the recession
- As is customary, a Spanish colleague will give an introduction to Spanish law on maritime, land and air transport.
